Gaming sector attracted the most investment last year
Turkey’s entrepreneurial ecosystem has made great progress in the first half of 2021. According to the “2021 1st Half Turkey Startup Ecosystem Investment Report” prepared by StartupCentrum, the number of investments doubled in the 1.5 years from the second half of 2019 to the first half of 2021.
With an increase of 7 times compared to the previous half, the highest investment amount reached in one semester in the ecosystem history has also been reached. The report states that until the summer of 2020, the leading sector of the startup ecosystem is finance. It is seen that the gaming industry, which has started to move faster with the investments made, is one of the sectors that received the most investment in the last year. The gaming industry attracted 34% of the total investments made in the first half of 2021 and took the lead, ahead of the finance industry. IFASTURK Education, R&D and Support Founder Mesut Şenel said that the gaming industry attracted 236 million USD in investment in the first half of the year, and said that:
“About one third of the investment support given to startups in Turkey was made to the gaming industry. The Turkish gaming industry has started to attract the attention of domestic and foreign investors more and more. 20 game startups received investment in the 2021 semester. Increasing these figures will be possible by bringing entrepreneurs into the sector. We are helping to strengthen the ecosystem by advising all new entrepreneurs and stakeholders in the gaming industry on the government support they can get when entering the industry and how they can establish a company.”
