The internet has entered our lives and this process continues to develop with increasing momentum. One of the important factors that trigger this development is the applications developed on the internet. As different applications develop, new ideas emerge, causing more different applications to emerge. International markets are now the target of many of the new applications and startups that have emerged. Here is one of these startups: “Gelhemen”. Gelhemen, which was established as a service platform, contains many services that organizations and individuals may need in life and brings together service providers and service buyers, comes to the fore as a platform that has its eyes on international markets despite it has been recently established. Gelhemen founders Bora Erbaşoğlu and İzzet Altınel stated the following about the establishment goals and objectives:
“First of all, we wanted everyone to have both the service receiver and the service provider on a platform, a single platform on a global basis with a single application. Generally, you are looking for service, the service provider also offers, but you cannot establish an instant communication. This idea emerged here. When I researched the sectors, we realized the lack of a platform that connects instant service providers with instant service seekers and that there is no such thing globally. We said that we can fill this need and if we do this based on location, we can quickly reach the closest and the most suitable person. We did our various competitor analysis. In these analyzes, we set out on how it should not be an application, based on various opinions and feedback from users. What do people complain about and what we should not do it so that the same things do not happen. We also had thoughts we put on. It emerged with the synthesis of all of these. We made an analysis of the missing and weak features in the existing applications, how we can add to this, how we can be different and set out in that way.
We both had entrepreneurial experience. Our aim was to be able to do a test within a month and give it to the market within 3-4 months. We kept the processes short and went into service within a month, after 3 months we released it, and within 2-3 months, we established our company. Then we made plans. 1 year later, the application will have the following characteristics, 2 years later, we will receive investment and grow in Turkey and in the world. We got to that point right now. We have added all service categories on the platform. We add what is missing over time. Since we had a plan to establish a global platform here, we did everything accordingly. If there is a different service in a different country, we have planned so that we can only deliver it in that country. Here, in general, there is everything you can search for, such as cleaning, transportation, organization, wedding, party, education, teaching, health, doctor, nurse, massage, repairman etc. Everyone has a main job and everyone can serve, everyone can get service. Therefore, we set out with the dream of establishing a network. You can provide service, but also receive service. Most importantly, we have adopted a continuous business model and a continuous workflow model. Even when you go on vacation, you are likely to seize the opportunities there. Opportunity may arise there too and you can turn it into money. You may also have a need.
From the start, we set out globally. We are actively working in 143 regions around the world. People can download it and use it even if it is not very actively around. We have two languages in practice and we are increasing them gradually. In Turkey, a foreign person can also use the application. We have an infrastructure to add unlimited languages here. Secondly, let’s say you received services in Turkey, but you settled somewhere for a month and stayed in the USD and the next they you needed a plumber. What would you do in a foreign environment? Even there, you can open the application and simply request and receive the service in the same way. The application knows where you are and finds and brings the best expert for you. We are a social platform. People can constantly post all the work they do, just like on Instagram. It has both a reference for themselves and their own ads. This is a referenced business network. Here, a person can receive and provide service from a single application. We offer a personalized application as “Only can receive service” and “Only can provide service”. The person can say “I will use it for both purposes” and shape the application in that way. Adding a new feature is also in our plans. For example; you are looking for a parking lot or a hairdresser. You do not need to get an offer; you want to go there directly. There is an application that can find such workplaces from our search structure as it would suggest the closest and most suitable one to you.
