Artificial intelligence support for smart transportation systems
Applications continue for the Artificial Intelligence in Transportation Competition organized within the scope of Teknofest Aviation, Space and Technology Festival. In the competition organized under the leadership of Cezeri, Aselsan and Tübitak, new generation smart transportation systems that advance faster into the future are developed with artificial intelligence technologies that make all modes of transportation safer and smarter.
Within the scope of the competition organized to find solutions to problems that may be encountered in the field of transportation and to increase knowledge and trained manpower, students detect vehicles and human objects using the camera data of flying cars with an artificial intelligence-based object detection system. The application deadline for the competition, in which high school, university students and graduates can participate as teams, is February 20, 2024.
The Artificial Intelligence in Transportation Competition aims to prevent accidents that flying cars may encounter, thanks to technologies that increase the environmental awareness of transportation vehicles. In the competition, where technologies that shape the new generation of smart transportation systems are used, the aim is to detect objects using algorithms for real-time tracking and bottom-view camera images.
As part of the competition, students are expected to act as visual landing assistants when the vehicles take off and land in areas within the city. Competitors identify the Flying Car Park (UAP) and Flying Car Ambulance Landing (UAI) areas with the software they have developed, and analyze their surroundings to check the suitability of these areas for landing. Competitors provide solutions to control and optimization problems, taking into account difficult weather conditions, day and night views, and
ensure that flying cars provide a safer service.
In the Artificial Intelligence in Transportation Competition, the first prize for the teams that successfully completed all the tasks and ranked first is determined as 150.000 TL, the second prize is 120.000 TL and the third prize is 100.000 TL.
World brands are advancing with the successful young people of Teknofest
AcademicSight team, which took its place among dozens of success stories from Teknofest, made its first sales to one of the world’s largest automotive brands with the system they developed. AcademicSight, which participated in many Teknofest Technology Competitions in 2021, 2022 and 2023, especially the Artificial Intelligence in Transportation competition, developed an artificial intelligence-supported system that detects superficial defects by automating quality control processes based on human observation in production lines. This innovative approach enables early detection and correction of errors in production processes, increasing efficiency and reducing costs.
