Entrepreneurship ecosystem will grow in TRNC
Under the leadership of the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK) and the Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Commerce (KTTO), the support of İstanbul Technical University İTÜ-TRNC Education-Research Campuses and İTÜ Alumni Association Northern Cyprus, Eastern Mediterranean University, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center and İTÜ ARI Teknokent, the Innovative Entrepreneurship and Incubation Program begins. The “Innovative Entrepreneurship and Incubation Program”, which was implemented within the scope of the work of the DEİK/Turkey-TRNC Business Council, aims to strengthen the entrepreneurship ecosystem in the TRNC, to introduce opportunities for the commercialization of innovative products and ideas, and to support entrepreneurs to take place in international markets.
In İTÜ Çekirdek Incubation Center, entrepreneurs are provided with open office, mini MBA/entrepreneurship training, sales coaching, technical infrastructure support, laboratory use, laboratory consumables support, as well as support of more than 500 volunteer mentors from the business world and academia who are experts in their fields. Entrepreneurs who want to participate in the Innovative Entrepreneurship and Incubation Program can apply until October 18 at www.kktckulucka.com.
DEİK/Turkey-TRNC Business Council Chairperson Nazım Hikmet said that: “With the project prepared to support the development of technology and innovation-oriented products and ideas and to bring these ideas together with investors and foreign markets, we aim the participation of university students, graduates and other entrepreneurs aged 18-40 with technological and innovative business ideas in the program. In this program, which aims to strengthen the entrepreneurship ecosystem in the TRNC and to provide opportunities for the commercialization of innovative products and ideas, we anticipate that the participants will take advantage of the “İTÜ Çekirdek Entrepreneurship Training”, “Mentor Meetings”, “Investor Meetings” and “Participation in the İTÜ Çekirdek Big Bang”.
Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Commerce (KTTO) President Turgay Deniz stated that: “We are very pleased that this project is actualized to provide support to technology and innovation-oriented startups from the idea stage to the institutionalization stage.” İTÜ ARI Teknokent General Manager Prof. Dr. Attila Dikbaş also said that: “We invite entrepreneurs to İTÜ Çekirdek on this path we set out to implement an “incubation” project in the TRNC, to strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem, to provide opportunities for the commercialization of innovative products and ideas, to facilitate entrepreneurs’ access to finance and investors, and to support them to take their place in international markets.” On behalf of Eastern Mediterranean University, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Center (EMU-GIMER), Prof. Dr. Mustafa Tümer expressed that: “The fact that the project is open to students from all countries will contribute greatly to our students in the globalizing world and will give a different momentum to our place in the world.”
