Fintech vision is processed bit by bit
Financial Innovation and Technology Association FINTR evaluated Turkey’s fintech vision with the Presidential Office Vice President of Finance by Murat Ali Çengelci. In the meeting held under the moderation of FINTR Chairman Demet Zübeyiroğlu on July 16, it was pointed out that the issues of “Participatory Finance” and “Financial Technologies” were the primary focus areas in the Istanbul Finance Center project. Murat Ali Çengelci said that: “Turkey’s biggest financial power is the youth and talented human resources in the field of technology. Within the scope of the 1 million software developer project carried out by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, approximately 646 thousand people have registered to the system and 393 thousand people have received training so far. As Presidency offices, we are the institutions where the strategy of the works is established. We cooperate with the private sector by ensuring coordination with public institutions in projects. As the Presidential Finance Office, we have no duty to issue regulations. We work in partnership with public institutions. We attach great importance to the opinions of the private sector in terms of developing the sector.” Çengelci talked about their agenda as:
“One of the most advanced areas is the payment services area. The field of financial technologies has also developed rapidly as the bottom layer of the strong banking system. We follow all the sub-layers and cover all verticals such as insurance technologies and big data analysis. As part of the İstanbul Finance and Technology Base project, we will embrace all the layers. We focused on solving the points that seem to be problems and we act with the information we will receive from the private sector. Financial technologies have a software-oriented structure. In our base project, we plan a structure in a way that does not depend on a physical area, we aim for the incubation center to be online, an online platform in which entrepreneurs not only from İstanbul but from all over the country will participate. Training, mentoring, conference and e-academy, units that will direct them to sources that will provide information to companies in need of funds are also planned. So, it will be different from existing technoparks. Financial technologies are an innovative field. Here, we want to be the place that facilitates and accelerates your work with innovative projects. Initiatives and new projects will be accredited and moved to İstanbul Finance Center after reaching maturity at the İstanbul Finance and Technology Base. We are working on the National FinTech Strategy Document. Our goal is to announce it at the end of the year. We want to complete the İstanbul Finance and Technology Base by the middle of next year. In 2022, we plan to complete the İstanbul Finance Center Project.”
