‘Migration’ to Pardus at the Ministry of Health
The Ministry of Health begins the transition to the Pardus operating system at the General Directorate of Health Information Systems. It was decided to migrate the clients who are eligible to transition to the Pardus operating system (GÖÇ) in the Central Units of the Ministry of Health, by including them in the Central Management System in a planned and gradual manner. The migration to Pardus in the Ministry of Health has begun from the General Directorate of Health Information Systems. The necessary studies for preliminary analysis and determination of user profiles continue at full speed. Centrally Managed Pardus Migration will be carried out in a planned and progressive manner together with the experienced team of the Ministry of Health as well as the method determined in the Ministry’s Central Units and its distribution will begin after May 25th, 2020. The Ministry of Health’s Pardus page contains the following information:
Why don’t we use it?
1- Since computer training is not provided with PARDUS in our educational institutions, a habit of use could not be gained.
2- Central management of computers in official institutions and businesses was only possible in the widespread operating system and staff were not given the option to use Pardus.
3- Enterprise applications and package programs could run only on the common operating system.
4- There were no trained personnel in the institutions to provide technical support to Pardus.
5- Hardware compatibility problems were experienced.
6- There were not enough advertisements and campaigns for the public awareness of Pardus.
Why should we use it?
1- Using ‘Local and National’ solutions without being dependent on external products minimizes the risk of service continuity being damaged. (Freedom)
2- We do not have to pay for license payments that increase the current account deficit. (Cost)
3- Since malware is often a threat to commonly used operating systems, the risk of virus threats is low. (Security)
4- As in the common operating system, Central Administration became possible. (Manageability)
5- At the Ministry of Health, all of our Platform-dependent corporate applications are made available on the web. (Platform Independence)
6- Hardware resource consumption of Pardus Operating System is lower than other operating systems. (Resource Saving)
7- Our staff working within the General Directorate of Health Information Systems can provide Linux server and Client support. (Competence)
