Now there is ‘software’ on the basis of corporate value
TÜSİAD software reveals the situation in our country, highlighting the growing importance of the ecosystem and organized in order to address future predictions, ‘Overview of Turkey Software Industry’ webinar was held on 8 December. TÜSİAD Chairperson Simone Kaslowski, who made the opening speech, said that: “The current situation of the software industry should be revealed through inventory work and the focus should be determined.” He continued as:
“With high technology products, software provides social and economic transformation, creating a leverage effect. By analyzing this opportunity, it is important to invest in the sector in terms of developing the economy, catching up with the information revolution and reducing unemployment. Turkish technology companies that offer software solutions or put software at the center of their business model have recently succeeded in experiencing important success stories. Nevertheless, according to the existing potential in terms of volume and employment in the software sector, we see that Turkey is not yet at the desired level. There are shortcomings, especially in scalable product development and branding. It will be an important step to reveal the current situation of the sector with serious inventory studies and to determine the focus areas in order to ensure improvement. With the widespread use of remote work, we are witnessing an increase in brain drain in information communication technologies. We should examine the solutions that will pave the way for our educated people to create added value by staying in our country and we should discuss how we can achieve improvements in business and country conditions and living standards. We should encourage the young generation for software and application development. In addition to the generalization of digital literacy in general, we must accelerate programs that will increase competence in the field of information technologies for digital transformation. The investments we will make in the quality of human resources will increase the attraction of our country.”
7 out of the world’s most valuable 10 companies has software in the center of their business model, as emphasized by TÜSİAD Executive Board Member and Chairperson of the Round Table Digital Turkey Serkan Sevim also said:
“We know that our youth will be the biggest strength of the software industry. For this reason, we support remote working practices in the R&D centers and Technopark companies and say ‘Let’s make all of Turkey a Technopark’. According to the studies we have done, while the software sector ranks 4th with 81% in the added value it creates, it directly contributes to 61 of the 64 analyzed real sectors. For this reason, developed countries are pulling the lost production market back into the country by investing in digital Technologies. Developing countries, on the other hand, are trying to eliminate the competitive pressure by developing their technologies rapidly. The production of digital technologies in our country is critical in terms of both the development of our industry and the global competitiveness of our economy and we want to have a say in the world with our software and technology companies that we can call ‘Domestic and Global’.”
At the meeting, the main findings of the report ‘The Future of Software Companies in Turkey Ecosystem’ conducted by the cooperation of TÜSİAD and Deloitte were shared by Partner and Deloitte Consulting Services Leader Hakan Göl. Then, under the moderation of TÜSİAD Software Working Group President Utku Barış Pazar, Telenity CEO İlhan Bağören, OpsGenie Founder and CEO Berkay Mollamustafaoğlu, 500 İstanbul Founder and Managing Partner Rina Onur Şirinoğlu and Deloitte Consulting Services Senior Manager Fatih Taşkın participated in the Software Ecosystem in Turkey: 2025 Vision Session.
