Special support for shopkeepers from Google
Google is implementing the Change-making Shopkeepers with Digital Transformation program with the support of the Ministry of Commerce and Presidential Digital Transformation Office and in cooperation with the Federation of Tradesmen and Shopkeepers of Turkey (TESK). Financial support of 12 million USD will be used by 1.5 million individuals and businesses to gain digital talents and grow thanks to the Google Digital Turkey Platform, aiming to support Shopkeepers in pandemic conditions.
The introduction of Change-making Shopkeepers with Digital Transformation program was held with the participation of the Minister of Commerce Ruhsar Pekcan, Presidential Digital Transformation Office President Ali Taha Koç, Turkey Tradesmen and Shopkeepers Confederation President Bendevi the Palandöken and Google Emerging Markets Vice President Meir Brand and Google Turkey Country Director Mehmet Keteloğlu. Composed of four basic components and prepared with the supports of public institutions and organizations and TESK, the aim of Google’s Turkey support package for shopkeepers affected by the pandemic process is to make small businesses more resilient to disasters by equipping them with digital skills.
Presidential Digital Transformation Office President Ali Taha Koç said that: “If the shopkeepers are strong, the economy becomes strong and competitive and the income distribution is fairer. The digital transformation of shopkeepers is of great importance in this sense. Shopkeepers need to be supported with the necessary skills. Today, thanks to cloud based solutions, much more effective and efficient results can be obtained at a much lower cost. When we create a strong digital ecosystem, businesses will be in competition and solidarity, thus increasing productivity.”
