The center of the Turkish entrepreneurship ecosystem: İstanbul

According to the 2021 Global Startup Ecosystems Report prepared by Startup Genome and the Global Entrepreneurship Network, İstanbul ranks 15th among emerging ecosystems globally. In the report, which examines the world’s 140 leading entrepreneurship ecosystems, İstanbul stands out with its ecosystem value of 4 billion USD in the last two and a half years. 181 million USD of the ecosystem value is comprised of early stage funding. Gaming, artificial intelligence, big data and data analytics sectors in İstanbul are at the forefront in terms of talent, support resources and startup events. Global connections, technology based talent pool and tax advantages are also among the main determinants of startups to choose İstanbul. IFASTURK Education, R&D and Support Founder Mesut Şenel stated that: “There are 79 ecosystems in the world that generate value over 4 billion USD. The fact that İstanbul is among the emerging entrepreneurship ecosystems also helps to strengthen the entrepreneurship ecosystem of Turkey. We are working to strengthen the ecosystem by helping entrepreneurs meet with government supports that provide tax reductions, personnel support and cost advantages.”
