Time to move IoT satellites!
Kontrolmatik, which provides engineering, supply, installation, digital transformation and infrastructure integration services to companies in the electricity distribution, industrial and transportation sectors, is now a partner of 25% of the newly established Plan S Satellite and Space Technologies Inc. to work in the field of satellite and space technologies. Kontrolmatik Board of Directors Chairperson Sami Aslanhan explained their goals with this partnership as the following:
“The number of companies working in the fields of satellite technology in Turkey is few, and as Kontrolmatik, we are closely interested in this field and focus on projects related to IoT and satellite communication. In parallel with the partnership with Plan S Satellite and Space Technologies company, we believe that our newly established company will lead the space and aviation industry with its R&D and innovation studies. With Plan S Satellite and Space Technologies company, we aim to become a service provider by combining the mini-satellites we will send to low earth orbit for the first time with the IoT sensors currently used in the field and establishing an IoT network. Currently, there is no such study in and around Turkey. Our aim is to send the first test satellite by the end of next year and our constellations that will work at the end of 2023. We will enable these satellites to process the sensor data they will collect from various sectors and send them to the world by creating a broadcast network in Turkey and the surrounding region. These satellites should not be confused with the Türksat satellites in orbit. Our satellites will be in low orbit and should be considered purely industrial, commercial applications IoT satellites. In 2025, 25 billion objects in the world are expected to be connected directly to the internet. We are also preparing for this. We will establish a network, a platform independent of GSM or telecom companies. Since we also manufacture the sensors we use, it is a subsidiary of Kontrolmatik. By connecting the wide variety of sensors we manufacture via satellite, our aim is to create an ecosystem, a platform, and open channels for other companies and start-ups to benefit them as well.”
