‘Top’ companies in R&D
The “R&D 250 Research” prepared by the economy and business portal Turkishtime reveals the R&D figures of the companies for 2019 and Turkcell took the first place in the “Top 50 Companies” list made according to the number of patents received in the R&D center. Ranking first among telecommunications companies in the sectoral ranking with 462 million 477 thousand TL R&D expenditure, Turkcell is also at the top of the list in the patent ranking with 142 patents it received in 2019. Netaş ranked second with its R&D expenditure of 175 million 252 thousand TL in 2019 and took the second place with 36 patents received in 2019. Eczacıbaşı Building Materials, which ranked fifth in the list last year, came third with 33 patents received this year. Vestel Elektronik, which made the highest R&D expenditure in the electronics sector this year, is ranked fourth in the patent list with 32 patents.
BSH (Bosch/Siemens) Home Appliances made a leap forward in the patent ranking compared to the previous year. The company, which ranked 24th in this category last year, took the fifth place with 25 patents in this year’s evaluation. BSH was followed respectively by Anadolu Isuzu (25), Tofaş Turkish Automobile Factory (23), Tırsan Trailer (23) MAN Turkey (16) and the Turkish Tractor (15).
In the research, which also reveals the performance of companies according to the number of designs registered in the R&D center; Bursalı Tekstil became the leading name in this category and reached the top of the list with 259 designs registered in its R&D center. The second place was taken by Turkey Şişe Cam which had over 23 designs registered at the R&D center in 2018, with its 2019 performance of 161 design patents, climbing up from the 27th place to the 2nd place.
Within the scope of the research, the number of utility models registered by companies this year through R&D centers was also revealed. Accordingly, Aselsan Elektronik leads the companies that produce the most useful models in its R&D center. The company, which is in the second place in the list with its R&D expenditure this year, is at the top of this list with 14 utility models it has released from the R&D center. Aselsan is followed by Estaş Eccentric with 10 utility models, Korkmaz Kitchenware with 9 utility models in the third place and Vestel Elektronik with the 5 utility models it registered in the fourth place of the list.
